This section of the city was perilous both in darkness and in daylight. Trash lined the streets, which were the camping grounds for drug users and their dealers. Colorful graffiti covered the walls and fences with not an inch to spare. An elderly man was walking slowly, pushing his cart overflowing with stuffed plastic bags and other sundry items. He walked with his head down oblivious to his surroundings. He moved past a brawl between gangs, walked around drug dealers and users, and avoided the homeless sleeping on the sidewalk. The man never looked up and continued walking farther disappearing behind buildings in the road. I watched him fade away into the concrete jungle. It is amazing how human brings can adapt to their surroundings.
